As I sit at my desk to write this, I look out my window and see that the trees are full of green leaves. This causes me to ponder that Autumn officially begins just a couple of weeks from now ( Sept. 22nd) and that this time next month many of those green leaves will have fallen to the ground and the rest will be exhibiting their fall colors. This causes me to consider the events of the year 2017. It has been a fun year, filled with events to bring us all back together as a community of good neighbors. We have had an Easter egg hunt, concerts in the park, June Jam, Senior citizen picnics, Neighborhood Watch’s “National Night Out” and the splash pad was available during all of the hot weather. Now, we move into what I like to call the season of holidays. The future of the remaining year is just as exciting, with another concert this month, a movie in the park “ SING” followed by the chili cook-off (with a live band), Halloween, Thanksgiving, Santa in the park, and Christmas. What a great time to be alive and what a great place to live. Good ol’ Edmundson, where everyone is your good neighbor.
I’m sure that all of you have noticed the streets being dug up. That is part of MSD’s “Project Clear”. They are supposed to restore the damaged areas. During the last few years, we have been known as having smooth streets, a point that I have taken pride in and I know that the restoration will never be as smooth and pretty as the original. It breaks my heart each time they cut into another street. Going forward, we will just deal with it. Change is inevitable; the only thing that never changes is change itself.
With the coming of autumn, not only do we have the season of holidays, but we also have the cold and flu season. We must protect our families from these diseases and I encourage each of you to get your flu shots ASAP. We can certainly enjoy the holidays and family get together more if we all do our part in taking the proper precautions.
The concert in the park for this month will be on Thursday the 21st, starting at 6:30PM. We will be entertained by the “HONEYVOX BAND”, which should be a fun time for all. As always, there will be free hot dogs and fresh popcorn, plus the neighborhood Watch group will be selling drinks and snacks. So mark your calendars now so that you won’t plan something at that time. Then on the 21st, grab your lawn chairs, blankets, coolers, and etc that you want for your comfort, and come on for an enjoyable evening of good music and fellowship with your good neighbors and family.
Thought to ponder: What could be better than working to bring out the best in one another. — Be a good neighbor.
